Thing I Need to Tell My Husband
Day 17
"I understand that we have the power of life and death in our words. I choose life."
A word fitly spoken is like apples of gold in settings of silver.
Proverbs 25:11
Being able to communicate with your spouse is so important in a marriage. Here are a few simple rules that I hope will help:
- Think First, Speak Second. If you say the first thing that pops into your head, you will probably wish you had left it unsaid.
- Learn to Be a Good Listener: Far too many marriages are unsuccessful because one or both spouses simply don't make the effort to listen. Always listen carefully to your husband.
- Don't be a Chronic Complainer. You will never whine your way to a happy marriage and men rarely respond to nagging, so don't even try it.
- Be Trustworthy. Don't hedge the truth. Don't omit facts. Don't make promises you know you can't keep.
- Be Encouraging. You should be your spouse's biggest fan. Not his his constant critic.
Reckless words pierce like a sword, but the tongue of the wise brings healing.
